Education organizations across the state are making a push to get teachers among the priority list to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Currently, teachers and educators are in the Phase 1B portion of the state’s vaccination plan.
Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam says while conversations are ongoing, the state isn’t updating its plan right now.
“We’ve been in very close contact, with not only leadership, but also educators to hear the concerns and understand that they want to be vaccinated as well,” Beam said. “We hear them and understand them. We also know at this stage the federal government has teachers in Phase 1B, and so we are not shifting them up to Phase 1A.”
Beam did add that educators remain a very important part of the state’s coronavirus vaccination plan.
