Butler County Community College is taking another step in financing two new buildings on their main campus.
County Commissioners approved the next step in the state issuing a bond for the $18 million project for the new Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building and a new maintenance facility.
President Dr. Nick Neupauer said the new buildings—specifically the new Phillips nursing building—are very important for BC3.
“The Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health is a part of our ‘all in for nursing.’ And it couldn’t be a better time to expand our Shaffer School of Nursing with what’s going on with the global pandemic,” Neupauer said.
In addition to the $9 million coming from the state, BC3’s Vice President for Finance and Administration Jim Hrabosky says a significant portion will be privately funded.
“In most cases we would be issuing an $18 million bond, but Dr. Neupauer has been a tremendous part of working with private donors in our community,” Hrabosky said.
An estimated $4 to $5 million for the project will come through private donations. The rest will be paid for via fund balance and possibly a bank note.
The completion of the project is expected about two and a half years.
