Two Democratic lawmakers from Pennsylvania are throwing their support behind President Biden’s request to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Conor Lamb say the raise is long overdue and that they believe the Biden plan is the best way forward. The President is looking to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2025.
However, Republicans have pushed back on the plan arguing that small business owners will be adversely affected by the wage increase.
Currently, the federal minimum wage is $7.25—which is the same in Pennsylvania, although other neighboring states have increased their rates.
