It’s almost been one month since the fire that impacted multiple businesses in downtown Butler.
As contractors and engineers survey the buildings, James Taylor, who owns the Sir Speedy building at 229 South Main Street, says he has an ambitious goal.
“I would like to save the façade on the building. That was such a pretty building,” Taylor said. “We’re going keep Edward Jones on the corner. The Sir Speedy building was really, totally destroyed. But, we’re going to try to save [the façade] and design around that façade in the front.”
Now Taylor did reiterate that this is the goal at the moment, but not the final decision. Varying factors could come into play next week.
“I have the engineers, contractors, and demolition experts looking at it. But, my goal is to save it,” Taylor said.
The interior of the Sir Speedy building was completely destroyed according to Taylor and would need to be entirely rebuilt. Taylor also added that there were no tenants living in the Sir Speedy building or Edward Jones building at the time of the fire.
It’s unclear what the fate of Reclamation Brewing and its building will be.
