Monday will mark the first day of an expected four year project to significantly realign a portion of Route 228.
PennDOT says crews will be surveying the land in between Route 8 and the Mars Centennial School—which is where the work will take place.
The goal of the project is to eliminate the curve in “Balls Bend” and straighten out that portion of Route 228 in Middlesex Township.
PennDOT says that additional lanes will be added, along with a center lane for turning.
The overall cost for the project is $26.5 million and is expected to be completed in January 2025.
