High School Sports:
–Butler high school senior Noah Beveridge was the runner-up in the Class 3A Boys Cross state championships Saturday in Hershey. Beveridge was 10 seconds behind the winner who was from Neshimany. Seth Ketler of Seneca Valley finished sixth.
–Laura Greb of Knoch was the runner-up in the Girls State Tennis Singles championship Saturday, also in Hershey. Greb lost in a close championship match.
–The Knoch Girls Volleyball team won the WPIAL Class 3A championship Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Montour.
–Freeport lost in the 2A championshoip 3-2 to Beaver.
–The Seneca Valley Girls won their WPIAL 4A consolation match 3-0 over Hempfield to qualify for the PIAA tournament.

The PIAA tournament begins this week. District-9 runner-up AC Valley will meet District-6 champion Northern Cambria Tuesday at Commodore Perry high school. The match begins at 6:30pm. AC Valley lost to Otto-Eldred 3-1 Saturday in the D9 1A title game.
The PIAA Soccer tournament begins this week.
–District-9 champion Karns City will meet WPIAL runner-up Freedom in the 2A first round. The match will be played at Clarion University Tuesday at 6pm.
WPIAL Football semifinals this Friday:
–Pine-Richland (11-0) will meet North Allegheny (8-3). Central Catholic (9-2) will meet Penn Hills (8-3). The match-ups guarantee the WPIAL champion will come out of the Northern Seven Conference.
–Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (9-2) will meet Serra Catholic (7-4) in the WPIAL 2A quarterfinals.
–Grove City will play for the District-10 5A championship this Saturday after beating Fort LeBoeuf 45-7 in the semifinals. Grove City will meet Meadville Saturday at Greenville high school. Kick-off is 7pm.
—Slippery Rock fell to Sharon 26-10 in the District-10 3A semi-finals Saturday.
–Mars was eliminated by Belle Vernon 42-7 Friday night.
