The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel each had a goal and three points. Defenseman Justin Schultz returned from an injury and scored the game’s first goal. Matt Murray stopped 24 of 25 shots.
Malkin netted his seventh goal of the season. Kessel his fifth.
The victory boosted the Pens back into first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Pens are one point better than New Jersey and Columbus, who both lost last night. The Pens visit Washington Friday.
