The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in a shoot-out last night at PPG Paints Arena. The Flyers scored two shoot-out goals to earn the extra point. Sidney Crosby scored in regulation for the Pens. It was his 17th goal of the season. Jake Guentzel scored the only shoot-out goal for the Pens. Tristan Jarry stopped 26 of 27 shots in regulation. Both teams went 0-for-3 on power plays.
The Penguins visit the Buffalo Sabres for back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday. Both games begin at 3pm. Pre-game on WISR both days will be 2:30pm.
The Pens moved to within one point of the second place New York Islanders in the East Division. The Islanders lost 4-1 to the Boston Bruins last night. The Pens trail first-place Washington by three points. The Caps lost 5-2 to the Buffalo Sabres.
The NHL announced yesterday that the Vancouver Canucks’ return to play continues to be delayed as they deal with a virus outbreak on the team. They had been scheduled to host the Edmonton Oilers yesterday after having not played a game since March 24th. At least 21 Vancouver players and four members of the coaching staff have tested positive for the coronavirus since March 30th.
