The Slippery Rock University football team will return to the field for the first time in more than a year with their annual Green and White Spring game tonight at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
There will be no open admission or tailgating permitted, with only pre-approved ticketed guests of SRU players and current SRU students and staff permitted into the stadium. The last time The Rock took to the field was the national semifinals. In 2019, SRU went 13-1 to post the best record in program history, and won the PSAC and NCAA Super Region One titles.
Tonight’s game is the final scrimmage of the spring season. Butler graduate Tim Vernick, a Rock linebacker, will serve as a team captain along with wide receiver Henry Litwin. Slippery Rock will travel to Wayne State to open their 2021 season in September.
