The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Kansas City Royals tonight at PNC Park. First pitch is 6:35pm. Tyler Anderson will start for the Bucs. He is 2-2 with a 3.92 ERA for the Pirates this season.
The Pirates begin the night 11-11 overall and tied for second place in the National League Central Division. They are two games behind first-place Milwaukee. Kansas City leads the American League Central with the second-best record in baseball at 14-7.
Los Angeles Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani started yesterday’s game against the Texas Rangers after hitting his seventh home run of the season the day before to tie for the Major League Baseball lead. By doing so, he became the first home run leader to be a starting pitcher for a game since Babe Ruth did so for the New York Yankees 100 years ago on June 13th, 1921. Ohtani struck out nine over five innings in the Angels 9-4 win over the Rangers. He also scored three runs and drove in two.
