The 60th legislative district now has a new state representative.
Republican candidate 36-year-old Abby Major of Ford City prevailed in a special election against Democratic candidate Frank C. Prazenica Jr. to represent parts of Butler, Armstrong, and Indiana Counties.
Major has been a legislative aide to former Representative Jeff Pyle and is also an Iraq War veteran. Major will finish the rest of Pyle’s term and likely run for re-election in the fall of next year (2022).
Prazenica spent time as the Superintendent of South Butler County School District as recently as 2017 and is also currently a school board director in the Freeport Area School District.
This seat formerly belonged to Republican Representative Pyle who stepped down in March as a result of health issues.
