The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 last night. JT Brubaker gave up a first inning two-run home run to Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado and the Bucs never led in the game. Brubaker allowed five earned runs on eight hits, allowing all five runs in the first three innings. Gregory Polanco and Kevin Newman had two hits each for the Pirates.
The two teams play again tonight in St. Louis. First pitch is 7:45pm. Pre-game on WISR will be 7:20pm.
The Pirates announced yesterday that attendance at PNC Park will return to full capacity in July. Beginning June 3rd when the Bucs open a series with Miami, attendance will increase to 55%.
Detroit Tigers pitcher Spencer Turnbull tossed baseball’s fifth no-hitter of the season last night. He struck out nine Seattle Mariners batters, and walked two. It was the second time this season Seattle was no-hit at home. It is also the most no-hitters in an MLB season by May 18th since 1917.
