Dozens were on hand this morning to celebrate the recent renovations at Preston Park.
Community members and local leaders joined together for the formal reopening ceremony of the Butler Township park.
Over the past couple of years, major renovations included a new bathroom facility and creating a new entrance and exit with more parking spaces.
Butler Township Manager Tom Knights says he’s very excited about the new features.
“It’s a great opportunity to finally have this park reopened, and make it more user friendly for anyone to enjoy the park,” Knights said.
The new entrance is in between the former gates to the center which was owned by Dr. Frank Preston. It includes a newly paved roadway and water retention pond that takes park patrons up to the main lot for parking. A newly installed bathroom facility is also available now for guests.
Knights added that the township is hoping to bring some fun community events to the park as well, including a movie night tentatively scheduled for June 23rd.
Knights said this project was five years in the works and thanked the volunteers and community members that helped make it possible.
