–The Mars Boys Lacrosse team defeated two-time defending state champion Bishop Shanahan 10-3 last night in the PIAA 2A semifinals. The Planets improved to 22-0 this season and become the first lacrosse program from the WPIAL – boys or girls – to reach the state championship game. Mars will face Allentown Central Catholic in the title game Saturday at 2:30pm. The game will be played at West Chester East high school. Allentown Central defeated Crestwood 15-6 in their semifinal game.
–The North Allegheny Boys Volleyball team defeated Seneca Valley 3-0 last night in the 3A semifinals. It was the Tigers 64th consecutive victory over a three-year period and fourth win of the season against Seneca Valley. North Allegheny will make their 18th appearance in the state championship this weekend. They will meet Central Dauphin at Penn State Saturday.
