The Mars School Board has approved a new three-year contract with the district’s support employees.
The board voted unanimously to accept the deal during a meeting Tuesday. The union representing the district’s custodial, paraprofessional and secretarial staff accepted the terms last week.
The new contract maintains all existing benefits with no additional costs for employees, who could be eligible for a $500 supplemental payment covering the current school year. All support staff employees will receive Paid Time Off, and biannual 50 cent per hour wage increases but the starting wages for each classification will be determined by the district. Those interested in seeing the contract should submit a “Right to Know” request form to the district.
Mars employs around 116 total support staff employees. The contract retroactively takes effect on July first of last year and will continue through the end of June 2023.
