A large number of Butler County Fire Companies will receive state grant money for operational expenses.
The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service grants are awarded by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads based on applicant and project criteria.
The Butler Township Volunteer Fire District will receive over $35,000. Harmony Fire District will receive nearly $27,000. Meanwhile departments in Adams, Buffalo, Butler City, Chicora, Herman, Evans City, and Cranberry will all collect in excess of $14,000.
Eligible projects include construction or renovation of facilities; purchase or repair of equipment; fuel purchase; member training and certification; public safety education; recruitment and retention, debt reduction; some overtime costs; and supplementation of operating expenses incurred by pandemic-related lack of fundraising.
