It was a strong bounce back year for Pennsylvania finances.
The state ended the latest fiscal year with a budget surplus after collecting over $40 billion—which was about $3.4 billion more than expected.
That marks the largest budget surplus in Pennsylvania history.
Those numbers are a near reverse of last year’s $3.2 billion deficit fueled by pandemic shutdowns.
