A new idea is being floated around as a way to help fund the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
It’s called a “package delivery tax” and it would add a couple of cents onto each package that is sent to homes in the state.
The proposal right now calls for an additional 25 cents on each package delivered. That could mean big bucks for PennDOT as the number of home deliveries grow each year.
In 2020, almost 800 million parcels were delivered in Pennsylvania.
PennDOT is trying to find ways to increase revenue as they stare down a $8 billion shortage in funding this year.
