Butler Health System’s infectious disease director says that as the number of local COVID cases rise, it’s important to get vaccinated.
Dr. John Love said that while Butler County’s number of new cases are relatively low to where they were in previous times, there is still a vulnerable part of the population that is unvaccinated.
“[Butler County’s] vaccination rate is okay. It’s certainly not as high as most public health officials would want it, and it’s not as high as other parts of the country are,” Love said. “But, we can still do better and protect more people with more vaccination.”
Love also said that the mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna, take about five to six weeks to become highly effective, meaning those who just recently got vaccinated should be careful in the meantime.
