Bryse Wilson pitched well in five innings of a 6-2 loss to the Brewers at American Family Field. Wilson, acquired from the Atlanta Braves last week in the Richard Rodriguez trade, opened the series by throwing five innings while allowing only one run and two infield singles. The Pirates (40-66) have lost 10 of their past 14 games and 10 of 11 to the Brewers. Max Kranick will pitch tonight for the Bucs in game 2 of the series in Milwaukee. First Pitch is at 8:10.
Manager Derek Shelton said Monday that Steven Brault, who has missed the entire season with a left lat strain will pitch Wednesday in the finale of the three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Meanwhile, Chad Kuhl has been placed on the covid illness list after experiencing symptoms and testing positive. He will be out at least 10 days after he is symptom free.
New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole and Milwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader have both tested positive for Covid-19.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced the news last night (August 2nd), saying Cole won’t make his next scheduled start today. Brewers’ manager Craig Counsell said last night that Hader tested positive after he reported contact with someone having COVID-like symptoms. Hader must sit out 10 days on the Covid list.
