The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 last night in the opening game of a three-game series at PNC Park. The Bucs battled back from a four-run deficit in the game. Jacob Stallings and Colin Moran led the Pirates with two hits each. Mars native David Bednar earned the second save of his career by closing out the game in the ninth inning.
Bednar had just earned his first major league save in St. Louis over the weekend.
Despite being placed on waivers Sunday, outfielder Gregory Polanco started last night for the Pirates. He is still part of the team roster until another team would claim him.
The Pirates host the Diamondbacks again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR is 6:40pm. JT Brubaker will start for the Bucs against Madison Bumgarner of Arizona.
