The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation continues to accept applications for two grant programs.
The first is the 2021 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside of the Federal Highway Administration’s Surface Block Grant Program. This grant is open to local governments, transit agencies and school districts to apply for help with stormwater management, bicycle and pedestrian education, or conversion of abandoned railways to trails as well as construction of overlooks or viewing areas. Applications for this program will be accepted online through Friday.
Applications are also now being accepted to fund new transportation improvement projects through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. Municipalities, business or nonprofit organizations, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, and airport authorities are all invited to apply for funding through November 5th. Eligible projects coordinate local land use with transportation assets such as improving streetscapes, lighting, or sidewalks. Grant recipients will be announced next year with funding available in July of 2022.
