The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority is exploring the possibility of obtaining a license to offer small games of chance.
At their meeting Monday night, the Authority instructed their solicitor to determine if the Authority or the 501c-3 foundation it created last year would be eligible to obtain the license.
If able, the Authority would like to obtain the license in order to be able to operate a 50/50 raffle at games as has been done in the past by the Blue Sox when they were owned by a different group.
Two authority members serve on the foundation board as a separate entity from the Authority working in connection with the Authority to fundraise through events and activities as well as solicit donations and apply for grants that would then be used to maintain and upgrade Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.
