Motorists in Cranberry Township will soon get to enjoy the first part of a road renovation and expansion project.
Various county, state, and local officials assembled Thursday afternoon for a ceremonial ribbon cutting on the Freedom Road Turnpike Bridge project.
Work on this project to replace an existing structure with a new, wider span over the PA Turnpike began in the spring of 2019.
A new six-lane bridge was constructed in sections off site and then moved into final position with a series of short-term closures. This project also includes widening, paving, drainage, signal upgrades, and lighting work.
Projects along the Freedom Road corridor are planned to continue over the coming years to expand the road to the Beaver County line.
