A longtime local landmark in the city of Butler is in the process of being demolished.
A $102,000 state grant through the Commonwealth Financing Authority Blight Remediation Grant Program is being used to knock down the old pool house and fill in the swimming pool at Memorial Park
Butler City Council approved this project earlier this year so that the resulting green space will be available for community use and the possibility of future development.
As part of this program, the city is contributing a local match of about $10,000. The Memorial Park Pool and Bathhouse has been closed for over 15 years.
