Boys Basketball:
–Butler completed a three-game season sweep of North Allegheny following a 69-59 victory last night. Devin Carney led the Golden Tornado with 37 points as Butler clinched a playoff spot. He had five 3-pointers and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line. Butler is now 11-8 overall and 5-7 in section play. North Allegheny fell to 13-7 overall and 4-7 in the section.
–North Hills remained unbeaten by defeating Pine-Richland 70-57. They are now 19-0 this season and 11-0 in Section-1 Class 6A.
–Mars-75 Highlands-68. The win clinched the Section-4 Class 5A title for the Planets, who improved to 17-2 overall and 11-0 in section play. It was their first section title since 2020.
–North Catholic-70 Freeport-54.
–Moniteau-58 Cranberry-30.
–Redbank Valley-48 Karns City-42.
–North Clarion-63 AC Valley-58.
–Franklin-68 Slippery Rock-35.
Girls Basketball:
–Freeport-80 Valley-31. Ava Soilis led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points. Melaina Dezort added 19.
–Mars-57 Plum-47.
–North Catholic-64 Beaver Falls-31. Dacia Lewandowski led the Lady Trojans with 20 points.
