The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-2 Sunday afternoon. Bryan Rust, Mike Matheson and Brian Boyle scored the Penguins goals. Boyle’s goal was the game-winner. Jake Guentzel scored an empty-net goal in the game’s final seconds. Three of the Pens goals coming in the third period.
Tristan Jarry stopped 28 of 30 shots to earn his 25th victory of the season. The win moved the Penguins into first place in the Metropolitan Division by one point over Carolina.
The Pens host the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday.
Sidney Crosby had two assists, but remains at 499 career goals. Evgeni Malkin returned to the line-up after being placed on the COVID list.
