The Carolina Hurricanes had a 4-3 win over the Penguins on Sunday at PPG Paints Arena. The result gave the Hurricanes sole possession of first place in the division with a 34-11-4 record and 70 points. The Penguins slipped to second place with a 31-13-8 mark and 70 points. Tristan Jarry made 26 saves on 30 shots for the Pens as his record fell to 25-10-6. The Penguins are off until Thursday when they host the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena.
MARCHAND SUSPENSION UPHELD: The six-game suspension for Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been upheld by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Marchand was suspended for punching Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry during a recent game. Marchand’s extensive disciplinary history was noted in the ruling. This was his eighth suspension.
