WPIAL Basketball Playoffs:
–The Knoch girls have reached the 4A Semifinal Round after defeating Montour 67-48 Friday. Nina Shaw led Knoch with 22 points. Maddie Boyer added 21. The win also qualifies the Knights for the PIAA tournament for the first time in school history. Knoch will meet Southmoreland Tuesday at Gateway high school. Tip-off is 6pm. WISR carries the game beginning at 5:45pm.
–The North Catholic girls have reached the 3A championship game after a 58-29 victory over Waynesburg Saturday. It is the eighth consecutive time the Lady Trojans have reached the title game. They will face Freedom Thursday at the Petersen Events Center.
–The Butler boys fell to Central Catholic 69-38 in the 6A Quarterfinals Friday.
North Allegheny and Pine-Richland also lost in their Quarterfinal games.
–The Slippery Rock girls defeated Hickory 47-23 in the District 10 Quarterfinals Saturday. They get Harbor Creek in the Semifinals Wednesday.
–Grove City defeated Franklin 44-27. The Eagles meet top-seed Warren in the Semifinals Wednesday.
