PIAA Basketball Playoffs:
–The North Catholic girls defeated Penn Cambria 52-36 in the 3A First Round. Alayna Rocco led the Trojanettes with 16 points. She was one three North Catholic players to score in double digits. They advance into the Western Region Second Round and will meet Lakeview Friday. Lakeview eliminated Avonworth 34-27 last night.
The win last night gave North Catholic head coach Molly Rottman her 500th career victory.
–The state defending champion North Allegheny girls were eliminated in the state 6A First Round by Cumberland Valley 63-60 in double overtime.
Tonight:
–The Knoch (21-3) girls will host St. Marys (18-6). Tip-off is 7pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:45pm. Tickets for the game are available on-line only. They are $8 each plus costs, and available at piaa.org by clicking on “championship tickets”. We have a link at butlerradio.com
–The Slippery Rock girls (14-9) will host Moon (19-5) at 7pm in the 5A First Round.
–The Karns City boys (19-7) will be on the road to Penn Manor (20-5) at 7pm in the 2A First Round.
PIHL Hockey Playoffs:
–Franklin Regional defeated Butler 10-2 in PIHL Class 2A Quarterfinals.
–McDowell defeated North Catholic 3-2 in overtime in the 1A Quarterfinals.
