The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 6-1 in exhibition baseball Monday. Oneil Cruz hit his second home run in three days, a shot hit out of the stadium. He also made an error in the field. Zach Thompson, acquired from Seattle in the trade for catcher Jacob Stallings, won his first start with the Pirates. The Bucs host Baltimore today. Jose Quintana, who signed a free agent contract with the Pirates in the offseason, will make the start.
