The Pittsburgh Penguins are idle until tomorrow night, when they host the Boston Bruins. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers recorded their third consecutive shutout last night with a 3-0 win over Winnipeg, and have caught the Carolina Hurricanes for first place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams have 106 points.
Boston defeated St. Louis 3-2 last night, and now gives them 99 points. They have the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Penguins have 97 points, just one point better than Washington for the final playoff spot in the Metro. The Capitals travel to Vegas tonight. With a win, the Caps can send the Pens into the final Wild Card spot in the East.
