The Butler boys track and field team had a very impressive day at the 57th annual Butler Invitational Saturday, scoring an amazing 140 team points. CJ Singleton shattered his own meet record in the 3,200-meter run in the heat with a sub-nine minute run. Singleton’s previous mark was 9:09. He finished Saturday with an 8:57.60 mark. Guinness Brown won the 400 and anchored two relay wins, with Butler winning three relay events. The 4×400 relay team Brown, Lucas Slear, Ryder Kriley and Brayden Young smashed the meet record of 3:24 set by Penn Hills in 2010 with a new mark of 3:19.20. Tristan McGarrah won the pole vault.
Other top finishers at the meet: Trevor Paschall of North Catholic won the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Seaton Wozniak of Slippery Rock won the Shot Put.
The Butler Girl’s Track & Field team rolled to the Team Title at the Butler Invitational for the sixth consecutive year Friday at Art Bernardi Stadium. Alli Morrow, Megan Baggetta an Aubrey Rock led the way for the Golden Tornado. Morrow won the Long Jump, was third in the 100 and was part of the winning 4×100 relay team. Baggetta won the Triple Jump while Rock was third in the Triple Jump, fifth in the Long Jump and was part of the winning 4×100 relay. Megan Penrod was third in the Javelin and the 4×800 Relay team of Krislyn Green, Aubree Tack, Madi McGarrah, Jen Cichra was also third
