The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 last night at PNC Park. The Pirates starting pitchers have struggled in the opening innings, so the Bucs went with reliever Dillon Peters to begin the game, and he threw two scoreless innings, followed by Bryce Wilson who threw four more scoreless innings.
It was reliever Will Crowe who allowed his first earned run of the season on three hits in the seventh inning. The Pirates managed just one hit in the game, from Bryan Reynolds who returned from a brief stay on the COVID list. The Pirates are now 0-5 this season against Milwaukee, and have now dropped 22 of their past 28 meetings with the Brewers.
The two teams complete their series this afternoon at 12:35pm. Jose Quintana will start for the Bucs. Hear the game on WISR.
Shortstop Kevin Newman has been placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a groin strain. He is expected to miss 3 to 5 weeks overall.
