The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the San Diego Padres 5-2 Sunday at PNC Park. Pirates starter Mitch Keller took the loss, allowing just one run on five hits over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out five. His record fell to 0-4.
Former Pirate Joe Musgrove allowed one run over seven innings, striking out eight for San Diego. He lowered his ERA to 1.98 overall and improved to 4-0 this season for the Padres. Yoshi Tstusugo and rookie Jack Suwinski led the Pirates with two hits each.
The Padres took two of three games in the series. The Bucs are off today and visit Detroit for a two-game series beginning tomorrow.
The Pirates have lost outfielder Anthony Alford, who was designated for assignment last week. He cleared waivers, but instead of reporting to Triple-A Indianapolis, he chose free agency.
