The Butler County Community College Softball team will host Monroe College-Bronx in a best-of-three series beginning at 3pm today, with the second game set for 5:30pm. The series will be played at Laura Doerr Park in Saxonburg. If a game three is necessary, it is scheduled for Saturday at 1pm.
The winner of the series will earn a berth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national championship in Syracuse, New York May 25th through 28th.
The Pioneers are 10-4 this season and led by Knoch graduate Marissa Melius, who is the leading hitter in Junior College Division III, with a .647 batting average. Another Knoch grad, Olivia Vissari is fifth overall at .606. Monroe College enters the series 24-14.
