WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–Upper St. Clair defeated Butler 8-2 in the 6A Semifinals. Golden Tornado pitching allowed 11 walks and had four hit-batsmen in the game. Upper St. Clair will move into the title game for the first time since 2005 and face Mt. Lebanon, a 2-1 winner over Central Catholic.
–Knoch fell to West Mifflin 3-1 in the Class 4A Semifinals.
District 10 Playoffs:
–Slippery Rock’s Shane Thompson fired a six-inning no-hitter as the Rockets shut down Fort LeBoeuf 10-0 in the Class 4A Quarterfinals. Slippery Rock put the game away with six runs in that sixth inning. Thompson walked two and struck out nine.
–Meadville eliminated Grove City 5-0 in eight innings. Meadville broke a scoreless tie with all five runs in the extra frame.
District 9 Playoffs:
–Karns City earned a walk-off win 4-3 over Kane in the Class 2A Quarterfinals. The Gremlins will meet Redbank Valley Thursday in the semifinals.
–Brookville defeated Moniteau 4-2 in the Class 2A Quarterfinals.
–Clarion-Limestone defeated AC Valley/Union 5-3 in the Class 1A Quarterfinals.
