The Pittsburgh Pirates open a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at PNC Park. First pitch returns to 7:05pm this month. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:40pm.
The Pirates host the Diamondbacks for a 4:05pm first pitch Saturday (WISR pre-game is 3:40pm.) Sunday’s game begins at 1:35pm. WISR pre-game begins at 12:35pm with the Ben Cherington Show.
Former Pirate Jameson Taillon came within six outs of a perfect game last night. The current New York Yankee allowed a double in the eighth inning after retiring the first 21 batters in the game. He ended the game allowing two hits and a run in eight innings and improved his record to 6-1 this season. When Taillon left the game, the Yankees trailed 1-0, but scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to give him the win. Another former Pirate, reliever Clay Holmes earned his seventh save in seven attempts this season.
