Mars native and Pirates closer David Bednar has been selected to the Major League Baseball All-Star game in Los Angeles. The game will be played next Tuesday, June 19th. Bednar leads the National League in multi-inning saves this season.
Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani was selected as an All-Star hitter and pitcher for the second year in a row. He is joined on the A.L. team by former Pirates pitchers Gerrit Cole and Clay Holmes, now of the New York Yankees. The Yankees lead all of baseball with six All-Star selections.
