Pennsylvania’s Attorney General has taken legal action against a couple of used vehicle dealerships, including one in Western Pennsylvania, for violating consumer protection laws.
One suit was filed against Carspot which operated in Philadelphia while another suit was filed against JK Motor Cars and managing member Jason Kelly for operations in the Pittsburgh area.
The Attorney General’s Office alleges that JK Motor Cars marketed and sold vehicles that were not roadworthy as well as failed to disclose serious problems with cars they sold.
Authorities recommend that anyone purchasing a used car check on the seller’s reputation and reliability, have a trusted mechanic thoroughly inspect the vehicle before purchase, road test the car before buying, and carefully read as well as understand any written agreement.
Anyone who believes they have purchased a car that is not roadworthy should call the Bureau of Consumer Protection or file a complaint online through the Attorney General’s website.
