NBA legend Bill Russell has passed away at the age of 88. Russell anchored a Boston Celtics dynasty that won 11 championships in a span of 13 seasons, the last two as the first Black head coach in any major United States sport. He would go on to march for civil rights alongside Martin Luther King, Jr.
He was awarded the American Medal of Freedom in 2011.
