The Atlanta Braves defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 last night in the opening game of their three-game series at PNC Park. Pirates rookie Roansy Contreras pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and two runs. All of the runs in the game were scored via home runs, and came in the fifth inning. Contreras allowed a single and then a home run to Michael Harris II in the top of the fifth. Oneil Cruz hit his 10th home run of the year in the bottom of the inning. It was the first home run by Cruz since August sixth.
The two teams play again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:40pm.
