Governor Tom Wolf is trying to extend the state’s limited supply of the monkeypox vaccine.
His effort comes as the vaccine is being offered as part of a clinic happening today at the Butler Health System.
Wolf says the state is checking to see if it can buy a different type of needle for the monkeypox vaccine. The FDA allowed for providers to administer the shot in between the skin in order to stretch the amount of shots in a one-dose vial.
He says since these shots require a specific type of needle, it could be purchased using federal funds.
Not everyone is eligible to receive a monkeypox vaccine—that information can be found on Butler Health System’s website.
