The Pittsburgh Pirates began a 3-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, winning the first game 8-2.
The Pirates and Cardinals represented each city’s respective Negro League team for the game last night. The Pirates wore the uniforms of the Pittsburgh Crawfords, while the Cardinals wore the jerseys of the St. Louis Stars.
Roansy Contreras started for the Pirates, going 5.1 innings with 4 hits, 1 run, and 2 strike outs. Oneil Cruz went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs, including a double and a triple. Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes also had 2 hits in the game.
