After months of searching for answers on how to get their missing money from a summertime event, Mars Borough finally has their cash.
The borough’s annual BrewFest garnered $25,000 in online ticket sales. Mars Mayor Gregg Hartung says they have used “Brown Paper Tickets” out of Washington State to sell online tickets in previous years, and utilized the vendor once again this summer.
But, after the event—the money never arrived.
“It was weeks before we heard from them about anything about us getting paid. And when we did hear from them, they were behind in their payments to other people and their events,” Hartung said. “They were trying to catch up. But, that’s when they started not answering our phone calls and emails. That got us really concerned.”
Hartung says Mars reached out to the attorney general of Washington State, where Brown Paper Tickets is located. Officials said they were aware of the issue.
After weeks of waiting, the borough received their money last week.
