The City of Butler will receive a large state grant to make significant improvements to local parks.
With the assistance of the City Redevelopment Authority, City officials applied for an over $1.4 million CDBG Cares Act grant earlier this year. There is no local matching money required for this funding.
This grant will fund five different projects including parking and equipment improvements to Rotary, Butler Memorial, Father Marinaro, and Christie Avenue Parks as well as Emergency Housing repair.
“In that proposal there’s going to be an ADA accessible playground at Memorial Park, along with another playground. There’s going to be a playground at Rotary Park,” Councilman Dan Herr said. “That also includes parking lot at Rotary. There’s going to be a lot of great improvements at local parks.”
The only requirement is that 80% of funds awarded need to be spent by June of next year. The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler will soon begin soliciting for engineering bids for this work.
