Elk hunting season begins today.
The PA Game Commission says they receive tens of thousands of applications to hunt elks, but only award around 100 through a lottery system.
The general elk season runs from today through this Saturday.
It takes place in Penn’s Woods in the central part of the state.
The last available data from 2020 showed that hunters harvested 133 elks that year.
