PennDOT and state police are releasing data from this year’s Operation Safe Stop—an initiative to encourage safe driving in school zones.
The numbers showed that there were 155 violations of the law during the awareness campaign in October—which is down nearly 100 from last year.
Last year, police say they had 348 convictions for violations of the School Bus Stopping Law.
Officials stress the importance of continuing to prosecute offenders in school zones. The penalties can be stiff—with a $250 fine, five points on your record, and a 60-day license suspension.
