Pennsylvania’s speaker of the house has stepped down from that office.
Democrat Mark Rozzi addressed the house chamber Tuesday morning and gave his farewell speech.
Rozzi rose to the position as a compromise candidate earlier this year, as Democrats and Republicans could not agree on a candidate that would earn a majority of votes.
Rozzi says he will back Democratic State Representative Joanna McClinton as the new speaker—which would make her the first woman to hold the gavel in Harrisburg.
