Although Democrats officially have the majority in the state House of Representatives, Republicans still are in control of the Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman of Armstrong County is one of the top Republicans in the Senate and he is outlining their plans in this legislative session.
“Make no mistake, we will continue to advance our priorities. Regulatory reform, election integrity, and making sure that working families have an opportunity to make ends meet,” Pittman said. “Already we moved to repeal the automatic gas tax increase, which took effect January 1st.”
Pittman adds that the Senate GOP will also focus on cutting government red tape and workforce development.
Senate Pro Tem Kim Ward also said the economy is the top concern for Republicans.
“The economy continues to remain the number one issue when it comes to Pennsylvania families,” Ward said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican or Democrat, the pain of higher prices is the same for everyone.”
Ward said they are looking to provide everyone with economic freedom and making sure families can thrive.
